Hi there & welcome to BdaKiNE.com 😁
Once again, during an off night, I found myself at the Old Globe – this time at the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre which is the smaller “theater in the round”. My besties and I went to see “The Last Match” which was developed at the Globe’s 2014 New Voices Festival by Anna Ziegler. “The Last Match” looks at the sacrifices and single minded determination required by an athlete to make it to the top and stay at the top.
The US Open tennis semifinals is the backdrop for the play starring Patrick J. Adams (from the tv show Suits) as Tim, the aging number one ranked player and Alex Mickiewicz as Sergei, the young Russian phenom who is looking to dethrone Tim. The story also delves into not only the impact that this journey has on an athlete’s family but also the role that wives play in their husband’s quest for success. Like everything in life, each character’s insecurities are a driving force in the decisions they choose to make.
Trust me, nothing makes me happier than sitting on the couch watching tv but there’ something really special about live entertainment. Whether it’s a singer, actor, or athlete, I’m always fascinated by people who can perform their craft in front of large crowds. I’m also constantly amazed and in awe that singers and actors can remember so many lines! I can’t even remember what to buy at the grocery store without a list.
Thank you for visiting BdaKiNE.com & have a grateful day 💚💚💚
