Hi there & welcome to BdaKiNE.com
When I met my husband, I was living in LA so I was of course a Lakers fan which meant we hated the Celtics. Whenever we went to the games or watched on tv, we would yell really mean things about the players. Nothing gave us more pleasure than when our beloved Lakers would beat up on the Celtics (My husband wants me to remind everyone that the Celtics and Lakers have played each other 12 times in the NBA Finals and the Celtics have won nine times).
After my husband and I had been dating for a while, he took me to Boston for a Celtics event and I felt kind of embarrassed meeting the players, knowing all of the awful things I used to say and think about them. What made me feel even worse was how nice all of them are. These guys are salt of the earth, family oriented, and a lot of fun!
I had always heard about the famed Boston Garden – no air conditioning, obstructed views, and rabid fans. Well, the “gahdin” is everything you could have possibly imagined and then some. Even if you’re not a sports fan, the minute you walked into the building you couldn’t help but be in awe.
The Celtics are one of eight NBA teams to survive the league’s first decade and their fans are a big reason if not ‘the’ reason why. “Fan” is short for fanatic and there’s no doubt at all that Boston fans are fanatical – in a good way of course. I’m always so impressed with the young fans; usually children don’t know who BIll is, they just come up and ask for a picture or autograph because their parents make them. In Boston, the kids not only know who he is but they also know his stats! It’s the cutest thing ever to see.
Recently, we went back to Boston to attend a celebration and game honoring the anniversary of three of their championship teams – 1966, 1976 and 1986.Bill hasn’t played in Boston for 30 years yet even now when we go into restaurants, people will stand up and start applauding him. No shortage of people buying us drinks there!
We’d like to thank all of the Celtics fans for always being so nice to us when we are in the New England area. After winning so many championships, you’d think the fans would be a bit blasé but they are anything but. It’s so fun to see how into their teams they are and how much they care. No phonies here, these people are the real deal.
Thank you for visiting BdaKiNE.com & have a grateful day!
