Hi there & welcome to BdaKiNE.com
I was back at the Old Globe for another play, this time I saw “Constellations” at the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre which I love. There seriously is not a bad seat in the house. The theatre in the round only holds 250 people and there are no more than five rows on each side. You can experience world class productions in a super intimate environment. You almost feel like you are part of the play.
“Constellations” is all about timing and how each decision we make, impacts our entire future especially when it comes to relationships. The two character play opens with Marianne and Roland meeting at a barbecue. One of them is married or maybe both of them are single? The scene is acted out several times with different might-have-been endings.
Who hasn’t gone over events in their mind and thought about the “what ifs” you had said or done differently. Constellations” reminds us that even a slight change in a person’s tone of voice can alter a course of events which is why emails and texts often times get lost in translation.
Roland is portrayed by Christian Coulson who played Tom Riddle in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. It’s always fun to see an actor that you recognize from film or tv on a stage but I also find it kind of distracting because I keep thinking of the actor in his “He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named” role; “Voldemort is my past, present, and future.” Can you tell that I’m a Harry Potter fan?!!
The play was only 70 minutes long but it felt like the right length to get the point across and make an impact on the audience. Here’s hoping that the meaning of your communications are understood by the recipient in the manner that you intend.
Thanks for visiting BdaKiNE.com and have a grateful day!
