Hi there & welcome to BdaKiNE.com 😁
Of all my extracurricular activities, the one that I look forward to the most is the Literary Luncheon at the Santa Luz Club. My friend Elizabeth coordinates with Warwicks in La Jolla to see what authors are coming to their store on a book tour. She decides which books might be of interest to our group and then arranges to have the authors speak at our luncheon.
The Club’s attention to detail is what makes the luncheon so special to me. Upon arrival, you are given a cocktail that matches the theme of the book. All of the table decor (including menu cards), flowers, food and dessert are also designed to complement the book and author. You walk into the room and are seriously “wowed”.
Normally when I go to a ladies’ luncheon, you’re given a small salad with a piece of salmon and I always end up hungry about an hour later. At the literary luncheon, we are served a salad or soup, a main course that rivals any dinner entree at a nice restaurant, and a yummy dessert.
I’m not one for taking pictures of food but the presentation is always so beautiful that I have to admit I’ve taken my share of photos. The food is delicious and super creative – if I ever move, I would consider buying a house at Santa Luz just so I could eat there all of the time.
After we finish our meals, the author speaks about her book and then answers questions from the group. What’s really cool is you don’t have to read the book ahead of time!!! I love that there’s zero pressure to know anything.
At the end of the luncheon, the author autographs copies of her book for everyone and we all leave feeling completely JOYFUL, it BdaKiNE 🍭
Thank you for visiting BdaKiNE.com & have a grateful day 🌞 Hugs, Lori 😘
