Hi there & welcome to BdaKiNE.com 😁
For the first time ever, we overslept and missed our flight! Granted, it was a 6:30am departure – not my best time of day. As a result, we lost our first class, non stop flight and instead flew Southwest Airlines (thank goodness for SWA) with a layover in Sacramento before heading onto Portland for the ML20 Gala. After a long day of travel, we got to our hotel and quickly changed our clothes before going straight to our event.
After Maurice Lucas passed away from bladder cancer, his family decided to start a foundation in his name to carry on his good work of “teaching life lessons through sport”. The Maurice Lucas Foundation empowers middle school students by creating opportunities for them to learn, achieve and grow by participating in education and activities after school.
Teachers, mentors, tutors and coaches work with 30-50 students per week from the inner city and metropolitan areas of Portland. In a very short time, ML20 has made a huge impact on and off the court; I loved hearing the children tell their stories of going from hopelessness to dreams that became a reality.
I’m a firm believer in education today versus prisons tomorrow. The Maurice Lucas Foundation is a great example of how your efforts today can make a huge impact on a young person’s life by giving them the tools necessary to become productive members of our society. I am INSPIRED by the work of the Maurice Lucas Foundation, thank you, thank you, thank you! BdaKiNE everyone!
Thank you for visiting BdaKiNE.com & have a grateful day 🌞 Hugs, Lori 😘
