Hi there & welcome to BdaKiNE.com 😁
If I’m ever a billionaire, I want to be like our friend Roger. He is totally living the dream and in a way that exudes compassion, kindness, love and generosity. He has high standards of excellence yet he is not materialistic or superficial in the least, if you saw him walking down the street, you’d think he’s just another Haight Ashbury hippie. I think his success stems from the fact that he genuinely cares about people and the planet and he is totally invested in making the world a better place.
Roger was an early investor in Facebook and in 2006, when Mark Zuckerberg had buyout offers of $750 million, Roger was emphatic that it not be sold. Zuckerberg has been quoted as saying that Roger “clearly cared about building something long-term and about the impact of the things we build as opposed to just making money in the short term”. In October 2007, Facebook sold a mere 1.6 percent of the company to Microsoft for $240 million. You don’t need to be a brainiac to figure out the math on that one!
So, if you had the money to do or be anything at all, what would you choose? Everyone dreams of having enormous wealth yet the large majority of people who have tons of money don’t seem all that happy. There are endless stories about all of the “bad luck” that tends to follow lottery winners.
In Roger’s case, he loves music so one of the things he chose to do with his money was to start a rock and roll band. And because of Roger, the band does not have financial constraints or a fixation on money. He uses his money in creative and technologically innovative ways that brings him joy and in the process, he employs a lot of people who might otherwise be struggling financially and not receiving the artistic credit and opportunities they deserve.
Roger is incredibly philanthropic and gives back in meaningful ways outside of his band but his band is just one example of him having a great time while doing good for others.
I am INSPIRED by the way Roger lives his life; he isn’t fixated on making money and he isn’t defined by his wealth – he uses his money rather than letting his money use him; he BdaKiNE.
